3D Printing

3D printing is used to describe the process of creating three dimensional objects from digital file using a materials printer, in a manner similar to printing images on paper. The term is most closely associated with additive manufacturing technology, where an object is created by laying down successive layers of material. Recently the term is increasingly being used to describe all types of additive manufacturing processes, or even other types of rapid prototyping technology.

We are able to print your 3D .stl file fast and efficiently with our in-house uPrint SE Plus 3D printer in a variety of colors. The parts will be printed with real ABS plastic for great durability and heat resistance.

Thermal Testing

An environmental chamber is an enclosure used to test the effects of specified environmental conditions on biological items, industrial products, materials, and electronic devices and components. Environmental chambers help evaluate product quality and reliability, and identify manufacturing flaws and weaknesses.  By simulating environmental conditions within a contained space, the chamber offers test results that can show the process of product decay and degradation and help predict the potential lifespan of a product or material. Our chamber is a temperature only chamber (no humidity) that can run between -65°C  up to +200°C.

CNC Machining

End-to-end component design of your prototypes is highly automated using computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) programs. The programs produce a computer file that is interpreted to extract the commands needed to operate a particular machine and then loaded into the CNC machines for production. Since any particular component might require the use of a number of different tools-drills, saws, etc., modern machines often combine multiple tools into a single “cell”. Outsource the complex series of steps needed to produce any part and let us help you produce a part that closely matches the original CAD design.

Infrared Testing

Infrared testing is a nondestructive testing technique designated by the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT).  Infrared Thermography is the science of measuring and mapping surface temperatures. All objects emit electromagnetic radiation of a wavelength dependent on the object’s temperature. The frequency of the radiation is inversely proportional to the temperature. In infrared thermography, the radiation is detected and measured with infrared imagers (radiometers). The imagers contain an infrared detector that converts the emitting radiation into electrical signals that are displayed on a color display monitor. A typical application is looking for “hot spots” in electrical equipment, which illustrates high resistance areas in electrical circuits. These “hot spots” are usually measured in the range of 40 °C to 150 °C (70 to 270 °F) above ambient temperatures.

The Flir E60 produces high-resolution thermal images with up to 320×240 pixels and the ability to create still images or capture video.

Mr. Fuhrmann holds a Master’s degree in international law and business management. He has extensive work experience in business development, product management, marketing and market research. His past work environments ranged from start-ups to the marketing, product management and market research departments of multinational corporations such as Henkel Germany and AbertisTelecom S.A. Mr. Fuhrmann also has experience in raising money for start-up companies through angel investors, VCs and government programs and to date has raised over $2,500,000.

Mr. Minx has a strong understanding of all employed manufacturing processes, including metallurgy, die casting, plastic injection molding, EDM/CNC, CAD/CAM and capillary porometry. Most recently, Mr. Minx was awarded 3x CES Innovation and Design honouree awards for different liquid cooling products.

Riley Janzen is an experienced aerospace CNC machinist, high-tolerance work, machining of high-tech alloys, CAD/ CAM experience

Ernie Janzen has more than 30 years of manufacturing, engineering and design experience and has multiple patents and publications. With his machining, CNC, and CAD/CAM experience, he has lead the manufacturing and mechanical design component of the Applied Research Department at BCIT for the past 8 years.
